Our overlay hydronic heating system is suitable for properties switching from traditional heating systems to underfloor heating, with Radiant Underfloor Heating aiding a seamless transition.
We recommend overlay hydronic heating systems for domestic and commercial properties where excavating existing flooring is not viable. This low-profile system instead can be installed over the floor, with new flooring installed on top to complete the design. For this reason, overlay underfloor heating is compatible with upper storey installations as well as ground floor installations.

How does overlay hydronic flooring work?
Overlay hydronic flooring is installed over your existing flooring.
Low-profile insulation, damp proofing, and hot water pipes are firstly installed on top of the existing flooring, before a thin layer of screed is poured over the top. The screed levels the system off and helps to spread and retain the heat through the floor. Flooring is then installed over the top of the system to complete it.
The system works by hot water pipes heating the screed, spreading through the flooring and radiating into the room above.
Why choose overlay hydronic flooring?
Overlay hydronic flooring may be preferred over underfloor heating systems because it is a more cost-efficient, time-considerate, and less disruptive process.
Since you do not have to enter the subfloor, which would require removing the existing flooring for access, the process of installing overlay systems has many benefits for properties which are transitioning from traditional heating systems to underfloor heating.
What flooring can be used with overlay systems?
The majority of flooring types are compatible with an overlay system.
The most recommended flooring materials include tile, vinyl, and Karndean, amongst others.
It is worth bearing in mind that overlay systems raise existing flooring by 18mm.
