So… What is underfloor heating?
Underfloor heating is an innovative heating system which works by generating heat beneath your floors, which rises through the home; the temperature is controlled and monitored by a thermostat. The efficiency of this heating system means underfloor heating is a primary heat source, and does not have to be used alongside radiators.
Heat is generated by either electrical heating cables, or water pipes – this is the difference between electrical and hydronic underfloor heating.

Hydronic systems can be installed either in the subfloor (underfloor) or over the existing floor (overlay). Whilst underfloor installation makes for a more efficient heating system, this requires excavation of existing flooring or should be undertaken during construction stages of the property. In cases where it is not possible to enter the subfloor, overlay installation is used. This is possible for domestic and commercial properties alike.
